Class 10 Board Exam Report Card

    AdminBy AdminJanuary 28, 2026

A Class 10 board exam report card is one of the most important academic documents in a student’s life. Almost every student waits nervously for it. Parents too. This report card shows how a student has performed in the board examinations conducted at the end of Class 10.

For many students, this is the first big public exam result, so emotions are high. Happy, nervous, stressed, excited – all mixed.

What Is a Class 10 Report Card?

The Class 10 report card is an official result document issued by the education board. It contains subject-wise marks, grades, total score, and result status (pass or fail).

    It is used for:

    • Admission in Class 11

    • College or school verification

    • Future academic records

Basically, this report card becomes part of student’s permanent academic history.

Details Mentioned in Class 10 Report Card

Most Class 10 board report cards include following information:

    • Student’s full name

    • Roll number

    • School name and code

    • Board name

    • Subjects appeared

    • Marks obtained in each subject

    • Theory and practical marks

    • Grade for each subject

    • Total marks

    • Percentage or CGPA

    • Result status (Pass/Compartment/Fail)

Some boards also include student’s photograph. Not all, but many.

    Subjects Listed in Report Card

    Usually, these subjects appear:

    • English

    • Mathematics

    • Science

    • Social Science

    • Second Language (Hindi or others)

    • Optional subject (IT, Sanskrit, etc.)

Each subject has theory marks and sometimes practical or internal marks also.

    Marks and Grades System

Some boards show marks, some show grades, and some show both.

    Grades are usually like:

    • A1 – Excellent

    • A2 – Very Good

    • B1 – Good

    • B2 – Above Average

    • C – Average

    • D – Needs Improvement

Even if marks are not shown, grades give clear idea of performance.

    CGPA and Percentage

Earlier many boards used CGPA system. Now many show percentage directly.

To calculate percentage from CGPA (rough idea):
    CGPA × 9.5 = Percentage

But this is not exact always. Different boards have different rules.

    Pass or Fail Status

At bottom of report card, result status is written:

    • PASS

    • COMPARTMENT

    • FAIL

If student fails in one or two subjects, compartment exam option may be given.

Passing Class 10 is important to move ahead academically.

Why Class 10 Report Card Is Important

    This report card matters because:

    • It decides stream selection (Science, Commerce, Arts)

    • Schools check marks for admission

    • It builds academic confidence

    • It is required for future forms

Though people say marks don’t matter, at this stage, they do matter a little.

Sample Class 10 Board Exam Report Card (Example)

    Student Name: Rahul Sharma
    Roll Number: 1234567
    School Name: ABC Public School
Board: State Board / CBSE / ICSE

    Subject Marks Obtained Grade
    English 82 A2
    Mathematics 75 B1
    Science 78 B1
    Social Science 80 A2
    Hindi 85 A2

    Total Marks: 400 / 500
    Percentage: 80%
    Result: PASS

    (Signature of Authority)

This is just example, real report cards may look different.

Common Mistakes Students Make After Result

    • Comparing marks with others

    • Feeling demotivated by low scores

    • Panicking about future

    • Taking pressure from relatives

Marks are important, but not everything. One report card does not decide whole life.

What To Do After Getting Report Card

    • Check marks carefully

    • Apply for re-evaluation if needed

    • Decide stream based on interest, not only marks

    • Discuss calmly with parents

Rushing decisions leads to regret later.

    Digital Report Cards

Nowadays, many boards provide online or digital report cards. Students can download marksheets from official portals.

Still, original hard copy is important. Keep it safe.

    Final Thoughts

A Class 10 board exam report card is important, yes. But it is not the end of world. Some students score high, some average, some low. Everyone has different path.

Focus on learning, skills, and future goals. One exam does not define your full potential.
